Do anything. Literally, do anything.

We all know we live in the era of mindless scrolling, spending hours on Instagram or TikTok with no real purpose. Often, we don’t even realize how much time we’ve wasted.

Some people seem unable to pick up anything besides scrolling. And these are usually the ones complaining that life isn’t going their way—or who have been saying for months that they’ll start working out, reading, or learning a new skill. Things they say they’ll do, but never actually do, just to feel better about themselves.

To those people: please, literally do anything besides scrolling. There are so many ways to spend your time productively—or just enjoyably—beyond running or reading (which seem to be the trendy suggestions nowadays). And by “do something,” I don’t mean watching a series or a movie. Journal. Join a local class. Learn to crochet. Pick up a new skill. Play card games with friends. Go for a walk with your family. Do the things you did as a kid—ten years ago (though it might feel like longer).

And yes, some will say, “It’s expensive,” or “I don’t have time.” Spoiler: you do have time, and it doesn’t have to cost anything. You don’t need fancy materials to go for a walk. A notebook and pen are enough to journal. Your local library is full of books waiting to be read.

Let’s be real: we don’t stop scrolling because it’s hard—it’s comfortable. You can do it from your couch with just your phone. Other activities? They require effort. Meeting new people. Leaving the house. Failing while learning something new. Putting yourself in situations that might feel uncomfortable—because scrolling has made comfort our default.

So yes. Do anything. Anything besides mindless scrolling.
